Benjamin had been thinking about how to escape for days. He had heard stories of slaves escaping to freedom, but he had never seen it done. He knew he had to come up with a plan that would work.
He had been talking to Olayinka and Adeola about their ideas, but none of them seemed to be feasible. He was starting to get desperate.
One night, while he was lying in bed, he had a thought. He remembered that there was a river that ran near the plantation. He thought that if they could get to the river, they could use it to get away.
He quickly got up and went to talk to Olayinka and Adeola. He told them his plan and they were immediately on board.
The next morning, they set out for the river. They had to be careful not to be seen by the guards. They made it to the river without being spotted and they started to make their way downstream.
They had to be careful to stay out of sight, but eventually they made it to a small village. They were exhausted, but they were free.
They stayed in the village for a few days, gathering supplies and planning their next move. They decided to head north, towards the coast.
It took them several weeks, but eventually they made it to the coast. They were able to find a ship that was heading to the Caribbean.
They were finally free. They had made it.
Benjamin had come up with the plan and it had worked. They had defied the odds and escaped to freedom.
