The morning of their departure was a somber one. The sun was shining, but the sky was heavy with clouds, as if it was mourning the couple's separation.
The two of them had spent the last few days together, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. But now, it was time to say goodbye.
They stood in the driveway, not wanting to let go. Tears streamed down their faces as they embraced one last time.
"I love you," he said, his voice cracking with emotion.
"I love you too," she replied, her voice trembling.
They held each other for what felt like an eternity, until finally, they had to let go.
He stepped back and looked into her eyes one last time. He wanted to remember her face, her voice, her laugh. He wanted to remember everything about her.
He kissed her one last time and then he was gone.
She stood in the driveway, watching as his car disappeared down the road. She felt her heart breaking as she realized that she would never see him again.
The love that could not be was gone.
