Chapter 3: The Encounter with the Witch
Tijjani, Mus'ab, Oluwatobiloba, and Zainab had been walking for days, and they were exhausted. They had been searching for the magical stone that would help them save their village, but they had yet to find it.
Suddenly, they heard a loud cackle coming from the forest. They looked around, but they couldn't see anyone. Then, they heard a voice call out to them.
"Who dares to enter my forest?"
The voice was coming from a tall, dark figure standing in the shadows of the trees. The figure stepped forward, and the children could see that it was an old woman. She had long, white hair and a wrinkled face. She was wearing a long, black robe and holding a staff.
The old woman cackled again and said, "I am the witch of this forest. If you want to find the magical stone, you must answer my riddle. If you can answer correctly, I will give you the stone. But if you fail, you will never leave this forest alive."
The children looked at each other nervously. They knew they had to answer the riddle, but they were scared.
Finally, Tijjani stepped forward and said, "We accept your challenge. Please, tell us your riddle."
The witch smiled and said, "What has four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs in the evening?"
The children thought for a moment, and then Oluwatobiloba said, "The answer is a human. In the morning, we crawl on all fours as babies. In the afternoon, we stand on two legs as adults. And in the evening, we use a cane to help us walk."
The witch nodded and said, "You are correct. Here is the magical stone." She handed the stone to Tijjani and said, "Now, hurry back to your village. You must save them before it is too late."
The children thanked the witch and quickly left the forest. They were relieved to have the magical stone, and they were eager to get back to their village. Little did they know, their adventure was just beginning.
