The people of Mali were in a state of shock and confusion. They had just been informed that their king, Maghan Kon Fatta, had died suddenly. His death left a power vacuum in the kingdom, and no one knew who would take his place.
The people were desperate for answers, so they turned to the wise men of the kingdom for guidance. The wise men consulted the Oracle and asked for a prophecy.
The Oracle spoke: “The next king of Mali will be the son of Maghan Kon Fatta. He will be born of a buffalo.”
The people were stunned. How could a buffalo give birth to a human? It seemed impossible.
But the prophecy was clear. The people of Mali waited in anticipation for the arrival of the new king.
Months passed, and finally, a baby was born. He was the son of Maghan Kon Fatta, and he had been born of a buffalo. The people rejoiced, for the prophecy had been fulfilled.
The baby was named Sundiata, which means “the lion prince”. He was destined to become the greatest king of Mali.
Sundiata was raised by his mother, Sogolon, and his stepfather, Maghan Kon Fatta’s griot, Balla Fasseke. He was a strong and brave child, and he quickly earned the respect of the people of Mali.
When Sundiata was old enough, he was crowned king of Mali. He was a great leader, and he led the kingdom to prosperity and glory.
The prophecy of the buffalo had been fulfilled. Sundiata was the king of Mali, and he would go on to create one of the greatest empires in history.
