Part 5: The Sentencing of the Time Thief (Time: 238BC) The Time Thief of 238BC

The Sentencing of the Time Thief (Time: 238BC)

The court of the city of Alexandria had finally reached a verdict in the case of the Time Thief of 238BC. After a long and arduous trial, the jury had found the accused guilty of stealing time from the citizens of Alexandria.

The judge, a wise and respected man, had listened to both sides of the argument and had come to a decision. He declared that the accused would be sentenced to a lifetime of imprisonment in the city’s dungeons.

The accused, a young man of no more than twenty years of age, was visibly shaken by the verdict. He had not expected such a harsh sentence and he was terrified of what would become of him in the dark and damp dungeons of Alexandria.

The judge, however, was not done yet. He declared that the accused would also be required to pay a hefty fine to the city of Alexandria. This fine was to be paid in the form of time. The accused was to give back to the city the exact amount of time that he had stolen from its citizens.

The accused was appalled at the judge’s decision and begged for mercy. He pleaded that he had not meant to cause any harm and that he had only wanted to help his family. The judge, however, was unmoved by the accused’s pleas and declared that the sentence was to be carried out immediately.

The accused was taken away to the dungeons of Alexandria and the citizens of the city breathed a sigh of relief. The time thief of 238BC had been brought to justice and the city was safe once again.
