Chapter 3: Surviving the Streets
The streets of Lagos were a harsh and unforgiving place. It was a place where the strong survived and the weak perished. I had to learn quickly how to survive in this hostile environment.
The first thing I had to do was to find a place to sleep. I had no money, so I had to find a place to sleep that was free. I soon discovered that there were many abandoned buildings in the city. I would sneak into these buildings at night and sleep in the corners. It was not the most comfortable place to sleep, but it was better than sleeping on the streets.
The next thing I had to do was to find food. I was lucky enough to find a few kind people who would give me food. I would scavenge through the garbage for food that had been thrown away. I also found a few places that would give me free meals.
I soon learned how to make money on the streets. I would collect scrap metal and sell it to the local scrap dealers. I also found odd jobs that I could do for people. I was able to make enough money to buy food and other necessities.
The streets of Lagos were a dangerous place. I had to be careful to avoid the gangs and criminals that roamed the streets. I also had to be careful of the police, who were often corrupt and would take bribes from people.
I had to learn how to be invisible on the streets. I had to blend in and not draw attention to myself. I had to be careful not to get into any trouble. I had to be careful not to get into any fights or arguments.
The streets of Lagos were a hard place to live, but I was determined to survive. I had to be resourceful and use my wits to survive. I had to be brave and never give up. I had to keep hope alive and never lose faith.
