Part 1: Leaving Home "The Journey of a Thousand Miles: My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant"

I was only sixteen years old when I made the decision to leave my home in Mexico and embark on a journey to the United States. I had heard stories of people who had made it to the other side, and I wanted to be one of them. I wanted to make a better life for myself and my family.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had no money, no contacts, and no plan. All I had was a dream and a hope that I could make it. I packed my few belongings and said goodbye to my family. I was scared, but I was determined.

The journey was long and difficult. I had to cross the desert on foot, and I was constantly in danger of being caught by the border patrol. I was also in danger of being robbed or worse. I had to rely on the kindness of strangers to help me along the way.

Finally, after weeks of walking, I made it to the United States. I was exhausted, scared, and alone. But I was also filled with a sense of hope and determination. I knew that I had made the right decision, and I was ready to start my new life.
